Project 1: Project Notebook

For my project notebook, I decided to make a “garden” type of style for the cover. It all begun with me wanting to create a “Road of Chaos” to showcase different types of path that someone might take, and how the journey might look messy. However, I felt that I needed to make something more colorful and vibrant to work with and felt inspired every time I used the notebook to design. that’s how I came up with “Blossom Through the Poison.”

01/08/26: Initial Design Including Roads.

I started off with taking measurements of the length and width of the cover as well as how I wanted it to look like with my idea of the garden included.

8.5X5.5 notebooks cover with potential ideas and final idea design.

I moved on with “Silhouette” and started testing different type of leaves drawing and seeing which one was going to be more convenient to work with. I also played around with different tracing styles like “trace outer edge” and “trace and detach”. I decided to use trace and detach for my small flowers and the sun because I wanted the pieces to come separate and just the silhouette of the figures for the purpose of my design.

I came outside of class hours on Wednesday January 14th at 3:00 pm to keep printing and putting the pieces together for my design.

For my final cover notebook design, I had a cover that represented poisonous leaves on the side to represent that there will be bad things in life, but there’s always something beautiful that comes with it and that’s why I have a few flowers on the leaves. I also added a sun to represent "the “bright side” of things.
